A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Renters are required to provide valid identification and proof of their current address, alongside payment information and a security deposit. Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Petersfield office. A deposit may be required to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually due when you collect your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify and report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. It is essential to return the vehicle in the same condition as received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and appropriate charges will be applied. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as when collected; refueling fees will be imposed for lower levels. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please notify us promptly if delays are anticipated. You are responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance coverage. Full details regarding insurance provisions and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to lessen your financial exposure. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless further insurance is acquired. Responsibility for damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains with you, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Vehicles must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited, as is sub-letting to third parties or permitting unauthorized drivers. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Vehicles should only be used for their intended purposes, and exceeding passenger or weight limits is not allowed. Operating outside of agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent is also prohibited.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Petersfield accepts no responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, stemming from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for rentals in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
